This has to be one of the straightest and most boring roads around. The best part of HWY 11 are the roads that cut off of it going north like 276. Plus you will more than likely spend your time on 11 behind either a camper or a boat.

The Cherokee Foothills Scenic Route is well worth the trip. Especially the SP 130/SP 107 loop. Great view and great twisties.

This is about the straightest scenic byway I have ever ridden. Which unfortunately made it incredibly boring. I would have preferred staying on 85 and saving the time. The route is well paved, mostly tree lined. A few places with scenic interest, and it feels like there are too many stretches that are as straight as a ruler. Saw one cop, speed limit seemed to be 55 most of the way. Few stop lights and signs. Went all the way to FairPlay, and if I had it to do over I would not take that route again. If you area headed from charlotte to atlanta, skip it. If you are looking for mountain roads and scenery, almost any of the roads heading north will be better. If you like gentle rolling hills, and plan on stopping a lot, there may still be a reason for taking this route. I just wish there were even a few more gentle curves...

add on. The 130 / 107 loop on the west end. I think I got the numbers wrong on my initial writeup. Still a great ride.

This is a great upstate day trip! Got a late start so didn't really have time to hit all the stops. Lots of great orchards, restaurants and parks/pull outs. I rode it from east to west. 11 is a nice easy ride. The 300/107 loop up into the mountains is technical enough and will challenge you. This ranges from nice and easy, very chill(11) to lots of 2d and 3rd gear corners where you need to think about lines. Good stuff!!.

I enjoyed this ride as the location and length fit nicely into what I was looking for. All and all this was an enjoyable ride. I would say that only about 40% of the 130 miles were "scenic" but there were some great views. The balance was a straight shot on a solid back-road. I reached speeds of 70 MPH easily. Plenty of opportunity to pull off and explore various parks and other spots worth a look.

The last time I ran 107 in the rain it was a nightmare. I don't know what they used as pavement but it road like you were on ice. Had 2 other bikes with me and they all had the same issue. I suggest staying off this road in the rain. If it's dry, then it's a good run (28 is much better). But not so good if you get caught on it when it's wet.

There are plenty of fuel and food stops along this route. Not being from this area, I was concerned they might be scarce. I stopped for fuel in Cleveland at the Handy Mart. It is a decent fuel station and is well apportioned, although I do not recommend it for eating. My son & I were hungry and wanted a bite to eat. We stood under the "Place Orders Here" sign for 15 minutes, with nary a nod. We finally gave up on them and headed down the road. We went about a 1/4 mile further and found the F Stop. Very friendly and GREAT sandwiches. I HIGHLY recommend the steak burger and the fresh Mountain Ice Tea.

Rode this route on two separate occasions: May 2, 2015 and October 30, 2020 (BTW, Google Timeline is very helpful to record all your rides). The 2015 memory is that it was very straight and boring. A lot seemed to change in 5 years. In 2020, it seemed greener and better maintained. There were some tourist spots like farm produce / product stands that looked interesting (near Campobello, i think). Forgot that Table Rock State park is along this route and Cowpens National Battlefield (next time around will stop there.)
