Rode this yesterday. The road condition is fine for spirited riding, just don't push it anymore than that or you will lowside or run wide. It's a small road, width wise I'd say it's atleast 15 feet wide at most on route 82. You will need to leave some room through the blind corners or a vehicle will accidentally hit you. The scenery is lovely but the road condition leave something more to be desired. The chip seal roads are compacted already so there isn't that much loose gravel but if the roads were asphalt I would rated it a 4/5

This route is an OK ride for the SE PA area.. Rt. 82's road quality isn't great, but overall, Rt. 100 is solid and 976, although mainly straight, is a good finishing stretch of road. The scenery and some of the houses on 100 and 82 are amazing. Gave it a 7 because of the road quality on 82. NOTE: This is NOT the road to ride if it rained recently. There was definitely spots of gravel and washout on the road, nothing unavoidable, and one part of the road had some flooding on it still.

The Lap roads have gone down hill since we started riding it back in the late 90's. IMO it reached it's popularity in the mid 2000's attracting large groups of riders from all over meeting up at the wooden wawa. (RIP)

The original lap as we rode it was about 60 miles. I certainly miss our core group of riders that rode there religiously for years. Dan, John, Paul, Tim, George, Nick, Steve, Alex, Blake and Pat. Ride safe out there.

Currently my Favorite ride. Very technical. Tons of turns, connectors, tight. We start at the post office on baltimore pike and do the lower part of the loop and stop at kennett sq and turn back. Can also stop before crossover over the reservoir and then just hit the really twisty part. Watch for cars, bicycles. Not for beginners who get freaked out.

Awesome road. Tons of twisties. Elevation changes. very few shoulders and railings. Learn the roads before you push it. if you are a new rider. We start at the Chadd's ford Post office on Baltimore Pike, and go south on Creek Rd. Follow Signs for 100, until Kirk RD. Turn right, and then follow all signs to RT 82. We skip the top part of the loop. Not as fun and twistie. Beware of bikers and slower cars, but overall very awesome. Never seen one cop there.

The Loop is as good as dead. PA 100 was just chip sealed for an extensive portion of the twisty bits. The old surface was in poor shape but had grip. The chip sealing left tons of loose gravel and made big ruts in the road. Traction is now very poor so beware! It's not fun anymore.

The section of PA 100 north of Baltimore Pike to Street Road is frikkin' awesome, so tr that out.

In then past I have heard this road called the "Pennsylvania Dragon", or the "Chester County Dragon"... Any comparison to US 129 will be highly overrated. I have ridden this "Loop" many times over the past 15 or so years. Over that time the road way itself is getting bad. Rt 82 has a lot of "stone and chip" Pennsylvania paving, the right sides of the lanes are falling off onto the shoulder and into the Brandywine leaving large cracks in the middle of the lanes, this leaves approximately four feet in the center of either direction of smooth road. I just rode it today, Sunday July 15th 2012, while a nice rid and 100% open, there are better roads to explore. This isn't a ride I'd go out of my way to ride. Although, for a local ride not bad! Keep an eye out for the mushroom delivery trucks! They break for no one! Not to mention the small of horse poo for the shrooms! LOL!

Agreed, too bad the old Wawa isn't there anymore.

I live relatively close this loop and I wanted a close ride that wouldn't take the whole day getting there and back. Down Sugartown Rd from Malvern, across 926 to Creek Road and followed the loop. Lots of other riders out, but not a lot of cars (it was Sunday morning). The loop takes you through a very rich area of Pennsylvania, lots of mansions and multi-acre homes, but very well kept and beautiful. Don't go too fast or you'll miss the creeks and rivers and the sites along the way. I took the ride in mid October and there were a lot of autumn type fesitvals up and down route 926. Corn mazes, pumpkin patches and mums. Great ride on a great day.

Found this road completely by accident once and rode back and forth down N Creek Rd a few times because it was so much fun. Later found out that S Creek Rd to 82 was a nice loop. Road is very twisty through wooded area with some decent elevation change. Watch for fallen tree branches and water runoff as mentioned. Also watch for other riders and cars, especially on weekends as there are plenty of blind corners and people new to the road.

Lots of nice twisties but ride at your own pace! There are lots of technical curves and decreasing radii. The road is such that going over the double yellow will get you hurt bad, and you wouldn't want to run off this road.

Oh yeah - there is a bridge out and a core part of the road is closed. Is this new?

The group meets a little further down on 926 where it intersects with 322 then rides down 926 to the loop. There's a nice Amish market in the shopping center by the Planet Fitness. A nice ride with the occasional stop at Hanks for a brunch. The road along the creek is beautiful now that it has Ben repaved (2021). You can do a few variations to add or subtract miles but it's nice riding in that area.

926 has some stoplights and stop signs; an overall nice ride. Rt 82 through Kennett Square is a great place to stop for lunch, break, etc. Southside of Kennett Square the road is under construction, so be prepared for loose gravel. The road narrows on 82 so ride slow and enjoy the turns and creek views. Rt 100 opens up and a great view of beautiful countryside. Overall, I enjoyed the ride.

I started the trip further north at RT#30 in Downingtown.Its called Quarry Rd at that point. It will triple the length on 100 as described in the article. After getting to the end in Delaware we rode West on Rt#2 to Rt#896 North to Strasburg to Rt#741 East to Rt#41 South to 926 back to 100. We found the whole ride tremendous.

This is an awesome ride with fast sweepers with elevation changes. The ride doesn't get monotonous with the fairly constant changes in direction. It was my first time riding this route (see video attached) and I'd say I went 7/10th's of my comfort level and maintained 35-40 mph throughout the ride. Speed ranges from high 20's- high 60's. It's not exactly scenic but trust me you don't want to be distracted anyways because it's a narrow road with no margin for error. There's a double yellow line with oncoming traffic, no shoulder with no possible run off areas so ride within your limits. It's mostly lined with trees with a few glimpses of a river or water bodies for short intervals. The road surface was in good condition with very little debris but use common sense to avoid obvious potential threats ie runoff gravel from gravel driveways, loose sand/dirt near edge of road. Google "Chads Ford post office on Baltimore pike" and make that your start point. Go south on Creek rd, follow Rt 100 signs, then Rt 82 signs. I'll echo the same thoughts as other reviewers on skipping North Creek Rd because it's not as twisty, fun, technical so don't waste your time. I rode this on a late fall (September 25th, 2016) Sunday 11:00AM morning and there was barely any traffic. Trees form a nice canopy that keep the temps cool even on a 70's F sunny day so I'd recommend an extra layer underneath your usual full gear. I wore pj's underneath my motorcycle pants but just a fruit of the loom undershirt under my jacket and felt cold in the early part of the ride ~11:00AM. So I'd at least wear a full-sleeved undershirt under my motorcycle jacket.

There's a Sunoco gas station at the start point (Chads Ford post office) and a CVS nearby (for restroom, water etc).

Not sure why this has a ~3 star rating, I really enjoyed myself on this route. Definitely gets a full 5 stars from me.

I didn't find the paving of roads up to my expectations. I rode it only once and didn't feel confident except to keep a slow pace. On many curves I felt that the right half of my lane was paved a little higher and that made me uncomfortable. Also most of it appeared to be chipsealed. Gravel in some places and also water.

I'd probably give this a 3.5...nice little ride for me out of West Chester, so my loop finishes on 842 back into town. Not much speed on the twisties from DE into PA...best to keep a reasonable pace since there's not much room for error, but the scenery is nice and it's a perfect little morning ride for me with a stop at the Foxy Loxy in Unionville for some iced coffee on the way back.

Extend the loop a few more miles, and make it a little nicer scenery, by changing the northern portion of the Loop to be Rt 842 instead of Rt 926. It's a lot more enjoyable with sweeping turns, while 926 is more heavily traveled (car traffic) and is basically straight. You can go even a little farther north and take Rt 162 instead to extend the loop a bit more.
