Just to add to other comments, the scenery along the way is much the same, but often it's like looking at a calendar with the often scenic views of the ocean. I always think it's better to travel north to south so it's easier to pull off at the viewpoints.

This is one of my favorite rides. Now that the highway 101 has been re-paved through Tillomook county this ride is great especially when the inland temps get too warm the coastal airs are always cooler and the Oregon coast scenery is spectacular. Bring your camera and enjoy the road and the views.

My wife and I have rode this section twice. First time was coming back from California, having rode from San Fran back to Washington state. We really enjoy this road we are not the cruise at 80mph, eat up miles type of riders. This road you generally cruise at 55-60mph between towns, and going through the towns was pleasant and enjoyable. There are so many places to stop and things to do, we really enjoyed the rides. If you like a casual ride at a somewhat leisurely pace, with nice scenery and ocean views, this is your ride. We stayed at the Chinook Casino in Lincoln City both times for an over night. Rooms are nice and not to expensive if you avoid the weekend, and the buffet they have was really good.

The 101 is beautiful almost in entirety. This section is good, however I find the areas that follow the coast are much more scenic than those that are inland.

9/3/18. Good roads. Tight curves, they will sneak up on you while looking at the scenery. Highly recommend. Be sure to do the Three Capes Loop. We were riding North to South. Plenty of places to stop. Cool but not cold.

I am headed ths way in a month. I'd love to see a whale. I'll mark the point suggested and stop there. I always wanted to know where the best ice cream is. I think Lincoln may be an overnighter for me. Thanks for the info. I'll update after the ride. J

Yes, much better staying inland, on the northern sections, than following the coastal route. Excellent pavement throughout

Wonderful coastal route. Takes you high above the ocean but also brings you right along the beaches while throwing some foresty areas in there. Great curvy road with awesome views!

Fun ride and great scenery. Riding this portion of the PCH is fantastic with plenty of places to stop for site seeing, pictures, eating - you name it.

The scenery on this stretch of 101 is amazing. But I only give this ride a 3 because the traffic is so awful, pretty much no matter when you go. An even better stretch of 101 is on the Southern Oregon coast, between Crescent City, CA and Coos Bay, OR. The scenery is just as spectacular and there's a lot less traffic.
