Try to ride the whole 555 at lest once a year, down and back. 751 turns in 63 miles. I counted em'. If you go North on Rt. 7 to "The Station Carry Out,
595 Joe Skinner Rd," (https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Station-Carry-Out/119683741416556) they got a great cheeseburger from fresh burger and crinkle cut fries.

Just rode 555 today (11-1-16) Beautiful in the fall and the first time on my Honda Goldwing. I was concerned at first thinking the bike was too big but it handled surprisingly well for a large bike. I combined the Triple Nickel with a ride up route 7 along the river and then Route 255 (Sardis). AMAZING TRIP with 78-85 degree weather. Another beautiful November day on tap tomorrow. Trying to figure out which road I'll take........ maybe I'll venture into Michigan or possibly Indiana and see what routes they have. Enjoy.

just did this on the 5th of oct 2016. throttle down when you crest the small hills just to be sure you dont go over the edge, a roller coaster ride for sure. the road was in great shape and a couple of the cruves sneak up on you. did it in 3rd and 4th gear enough of speed to keep you moving. from chesterfield to rt 676 is being paved.very little traffic and some nice family farms. rode from zanesville to parkersburg, if you dont do the whole way you are missing some great riding

We took a group of 5 experienced sport riders with us here. Nice road, not for the faint of heart or timid rider. Quite a few road elevation drops, blind curves and gravely corners. YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION HERE. The road is the best in the last 12-15 miles on the southern tip of the 555. Not a comparison to the Tail. The Tail is curvy and you can see where the curve goes. Here you cannot see past the hill crest and have to anticipate is it left right or down?? Where are the gravel traps? Not a lot of cars on the road, but still have to watch for the occasional road kill. This is a trip that has to be done if you are close, and a road that helps you understand why you have to keep eyes up and pay attention.

Great road I ride it from start to finish. There is a section that is washed out just north of State route 78 and it is rough in a few section right there. It is marked rough road. Did see some bike parts on the road as they did not slow down for the pot holes that you would loose a VW in. Yes I will ride it again this year.

Just completed this route 555 yesterday June/2016. Nice route. Roads were in decent condition but there were some spots with loose gravel that you need to aware of in the turns. I stayed in mostly 2nd gear the first time through, but on the way back, I was able to get up to 3rd gear several times because I had a feel for the road and what to expect. There some hills that when you get to the top you have no idea what awaits you on the other side that you have to be aware of. I also noticed a few Amish horse and buggy's and horse dung in the middle of the road that you have to be aware of. The first time through, I pulled over and took pictures of certain parts of the road, but there aren't many places that you can pull off to do this safely. Mainly a good road to get out on and cruise on. I purposely went early am hours around 10 am to get through it before it got crowded with other bikers and cars. It made the difference! This was my first time riding a twisty route made for bikers, so I was a little nervous at first, but after going through and knowing what to expect, it made a big difference. My gps struggled to get reception while navigating through the route and towards the end, so I had to stop and ask the locals where to find some petrol. Everyone is friendly and will wave bikers around them when it's safe to pass.

Heading south out of Zanesville, the road is a bit boring for about 10 miles. Then, it opens up to many blind turns, elevation changes, and a mix of good and bad road surfaces.
I encountered a lot of gravel washout throughout the jaunt. There are elevation changes that you can catch air on, and some of them have blind, off-camber turns just beyond the crest of a hill. The road surface between Ringold and Chesterhill is pitiful, so be careful.

Twisties, trees, hills, very little traffic, what more could you want. Rode this rollercoaster with my wife and some friends. Did encounter a motorcycle accident along the way that made us ride a little gingerly for a few miles, but as long as you ride within your ability this road is quite enjoyable.

GREAT road! Definately, worth going just for it however I was surprised how many similar roads there were in the area just by getting off the 'big' roads. I was there Oct 10th and don't remember any gravel problems. My CAUTION would be DEER! In the middle of the day! Had several 'scares'. Re; Dragon? Although I'd do 555 again, I would not compare it w/ the Dragon. Sometimes dramatic corners but MUCH longer than the Dragon and houses right by the road! It's just different but worth your effort!

Started to ride 555 South from Zanesville and the road is "CLOSED" 3 miles into the ride. We ended up backtracking and taking South 77 to Marietta and then on to the end of 555 at Belpre, Oh. Rode 555 from the south...Awesome ride!!!! 550 is also a great ride, going into Athens.

JUST RODE GREAT LOOP THAT INCLUDED 258, 800, 26 AND 555. 555 WAS EXCELLENT. LITTLE TO NO GRAVEL, NO TRAFFIC. HANDS DOWN ONE OF TOP 5 ROADS IN OHIO TO RIDE. NOT SURE WHERE THE CINDER COMMENTS ARE COMING FROM. PAVEMENT WAS GREAT LAST WEEKEND. DID SEE A FEW ANIMALS ABOUT... A COW BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD... THAT WAS FREAKY! JUST BE CAREFUL AND RIDE WITHIN YOUR MEANS AND YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME ON THIS ROAD.

What's to say that hasn't been said? It's the Trip Nick, arguably the best road in Ohio. (It has competition.) From rollercoaster 'Ohio humps' to off camber side to sides, to twisty wiggles to sweepers, it has it all. Things get a bit narrow for a bit south of 78, but still a thoroughly entertaining road. I just don't know that I'm in love with it as much as some. (Then again, I do have access to many more roads than, say, some guy from Zanesville, or what-have-you.)

I think you would be remiss to skip the section that starts at 50 at it's southern starting point, as it's one of the best pieces of the road, and I ride it almost every weekend since I live 4 miles from it.

But either way the triple nickel is a heck of a ride and other than a few spots here and there where you have to watch for gravel occasionally, good road quality and a ton of fun to ride.

you head out on weekend mornings between 8.30 and Noon or so, you'll pas dozens and dozens of super cool motorcycles as well .....to look at while you ride!

Just rode on 4/13/2018 for the second time in the last couple of years. This is a great ride, especially the southern half. Unfortunately the southern half has taken some winter road damage (potholes and a lot of gravel). Still a great road just be aware of the gravel in many of the turns,

my fear was the gravel I read was all over this route. I road the 555 from Zanesville to little hocking, gravel was no issue at all, though patched black top for the north 20 miles was. nothing major. while this was a nice route I was a little disappointed

Rode this rode a couple of times over the years. Once when they put chip & seal on it. Loose gravel on this road is just plain dangerous. Anyhow this is a great road, going from Zanesville then almost to the Ohio river. Take this road you won't be disappointed.

Very quick corner and numerous blind hills. Be aware over the blind hills the road may go left, right, or straight into the back of a horse & buggy. As you get away from the Ohio River it opens up some, but stay vigilant. The Triple Nickel is a great out-n-back roller coaster ride.

Rode the Triple Nickel today for the first time. There's quite a bit of patched up asphalt, half a lane, quarter of a lane. Sometimes just an edge. The roads in bad shape but as far as the ride itself it was awesome. Deep hills, tight curves, and scenic country landscapes. Rode it from Zanesville to Bartlett, ohio

7/24/2019 (Wednesday, afternoon). Started ride at intersection of OH37 and OH555, then rode south to Chesterhill, about 20 miles. (Stayed on 555 all the way to US50, about 43 miles, but am only reviewing to Chesterhill). Scenery: Forest, farmland, rolling hills. Road Conditions: The road was in fair to average condition. Rough. Many patches, cracks, degraded roadbed. A couple of really bad spots north and south of Ringgold. Bouncing in the curves is no fun. Ride: Lots of curves and twisties. A few tight curves that could sneak up on you. A couple of blind rollercoaster hills (one has a drive just over the hill. And a few blind curves just over the hills. The slow curve highway signs may be for the 2nd curve, not the immediate one. Quite a few driveways along the route, so be prepared for someone turning in/out or moving slow. I encountered very little traffic. Amenities: None between OH37 and Chesterhill. Other: Rode on a 2012 Goldwing loaded down for a three week tour.

Countless blind hills with the potential for horse & buggy travelers over every crest. An excellent run that I prefer to run towards the north. That gives you a climbing perspective so you can stay on the throttle more consistently.

Wow. I've been riding for 35 years in Ohio and I have never ridden this route until this past weekend. My brother-in-laws and I rode it and had a great time. We rode from South Zanesville to Bartlett till we had to head home to Columbus. I wish we had the time to ride to the river. I would encourage anyone who rides in Ohio or any surrounding states to take a ride on the "Triple Nickel", you won't be sorry.

Nice ride. Rode it today, 7/13/2020, with my husband driving. A long section was newly resurfaced. So had to be cautious of the oilsand frequent blind hills made it impossible to enjoy any of the scenery. Was a beautiful day, perfect for this ride..

Little stretch north of 78 still rough, however from Ringgold (OH-78) to Chesterhill fresh pavement. About 3 miles south of Port 37 a pair of RH turns riding south with some serious gravel washout, the 2nd was nasty... be careful. Not as bad going north.

Rode 555 from 50 to Zanesville. Southern part tight and twisty and a little more open as go north (not a lot though). Lots of blind hills, keeps you guessing about the road to come. Had to focus on riding , not sight seeing. Was a great ride.

I was riding the whole 555 from Brush Creek all the ay down to Little Hickory. I would give it 5 stars if the asphalt would be better and less dirty. The road is pretty demanding! Blind corners over a crest . Uphill and downhill sharp turns and long straights. it has it all. Just needs improvements on the black top and less gravel from the driveways
