There are many beautiful rides in this area. A good option is take a ride along either side of Kueka Lake. Find your way to Branchport. Take the Italy Valley road west to Naples. Naples is a great place to get off the bike for a while. You can get anything from a slice of pizza to a nice dinner there. Then try Rt. 53 south through Prattsburgh and back to Rt. 390 in Kanona.

definitely go up the hill out of branchport, a the top of the hill is a bar if that's what your into, but right around the corner from the bar is Italy valley turnpike which is a nice road with some twists and hills. take the valley road to route 53 and take a right down into naples, after going through naples you have 3 choices, you can go up the hill towards Bristol springs and Canandaigua or take the low road and cruise along Canandaigua lake for a bit before rejoining the hill towards Bristol springs. Or the third and my favorite take rt245 out of naples and pick up rt 364, nice pieces of country highway with lots of twists and turns with a few small towns sprinkled along the way, its a very scenic route especially during the fall, rt 364 brings you back into penn yan on the north end of kueka lake, my wife and I ride this route often....

One of the best routes around the Finger Lakes region. Awesome scenery along the entire route. This route can be easily added to the "Cayuga Lake Tour" to make pretty full day of riding.

I actually grew up at the north end of this route, just outside Penn Yan, so I know this road very well. 54A is the route down the west side of the lake, through Branchport, a nice tiny little town. The road winds down the West side of the lake, and is full of cottages and mostly 35 mph under a canopy of trees. The route down the east side of the lake, Route 54, is more of a highway and a much faster road. You still see the lake most of the time, but the cottages are on small side roads that connect to the highway every two or three miles, so you don't have hundreds of driveways on the road. Speeds, if I remember correctly, are 55 mph for most of the road. The east side road is mainly sweepers, whereas the west side road is more hilly and much more twisty. And I COMPLETELY agree with the other poster who suggested you check out the Curtiss museum in Hammondsport, at the South end of the lake. (It's on 54 just to the east of town, easy to find.) Before he built and flew the first amphibious planes, Curtiss was a world speed record holder on motorcycles, and he also invented the RV trailer. I road this route in summer, 2007. As previously stated, the speed limit is slow as the road is lined with cottages. I enjoyed the slow pace, scenery and twists in the road. My riding buddy said it was a real yawner for him.

We happened upon this road while riding around the Finger Lakes region. This route turned out to be one of our favorites. It has great turns, dips and rises following the contour of the shore. There are a lot of cabins/residences on both sides of the road, though, which forced us to keep the speed down. I'd love to try this road when the people go home!
You must stop at the Glenn Curtiss Museum just south of Hammondsport on 54. An aviation and motorcycling pioneer.

Just a nice road if you are in no hurry. Have to not let your guard down while riding. Many vehicles pulling boats. Great scenery.
