Currently there is a part of the road chewed up for new pavement. It is a downhill part.....There are no warning signs on approach! IT STARTS ON A TURN!!!! PLEASE BE CAREFUL ON THAT FIRST TURN INTO THAT CHEWED UP STRETCH.

Once Skyline Dr. Ends make a Rt and follow signs to Ringwood State Forest. Take it all the way out. make a Rt at the first light. It will put you in Sterling Forest. Take that to the end and make a left on to 17A. Take that to the end and follow sign for 210 which will take you around Greenwood lake. Make a left follow it out and it will bring you back to Skyline Dr.

Great ride through a forested area and right next to the Wanaque Reservoir - one of my favorites. I agree with both posts - esp the Seven Lakes Drive, to Bear Mountain then onto 9W - this is really and amazing area to ride.

This is a very nice ride. I rode similar to the added comment. Instead of heading to Route 23. I headed through Greenwood Lake and then on to Sterling Forest. I headed south on 17A and turned onto 7 Lakes Drive. I followed it to Bear Mt. and took 9W back home. It was 2-1/2 hours round ttrip and really nice the whole way. Great suggestions.

NJ's Skyline Drive runs from I-287 in Oakland to Greenwood Lake Turnpike aka County Route 511. It is a heavily traveled winding road with NO PASSING ZONES!!! This means one slow vehicle backs up everyone. Still on the rare occasion when traffic doesn't slow you down it is a nice ride. The downhill section that had been scarified has finally been repaved to smooth pavement again.

Greenwood Lake Turnpike from Ringwood to Greenwood Lake is a nice ride but also can have traffic to hold you up.

I consider these roads as a scenic route to get away from the suburban sprawl of NE New Jersey and out to the open roads that really allow me to enjoy my motors.

Lots of steep uphills and downhills with twisties thrown in for even more fun! That's great if you like those kind of things (not as great if your wife's sitting behind you freaking out!)... Beautiful scenery, gorgeous lake and mountain views.

Pretty nice ride with some hills and turns, going up and down, goes through a few small towns giving opportunity to stop for gas & food & drink if needed. Unfortunately those are not back roads, so usually packed with traffic depending on the time of day.
