A nice variation on this ride is the "double divide" - riding west from Vaughan (not east) on 200, you will cross the Continental Divide at Roger's Pass. About 10-15 miles further west, turn left on SR 279 (Flescher Pass Road). If you want "twisties" this is your route! It goes back over the Divide at Flescher Pass, then down into the Helena valley where it turns into Lincoln Road, and comes out at Interstate 15. Watch out for wildlife, I nearly hit a couple of deer.

Very nice ride, always stop in Lincoln for a bite and gas. Only downfall is all the cagers.

Actually started this ride in Sandpoint, Idaho taking Idaho State Route 200 around the north end of Lake Pend Orille down into Montana, through Thompson Fall and to Missoula. Stayed on MT 200 all the way to Great Falls as described here. Once you get away from Missoula headed east it's an excellent ride with little traffic and great scenery. You cross the Continental Divide on Rogers Pass elevation 5600+, west of Great Falls about 70 miles.

Great views, good riding in Helena Nat'l Forest. Once out of the forest, road gets pretty level and straight. While the views are good at first, you'll yearn to be back in the forest and on more challenging road pretty quickly
