Take the time to cross the bridge swing over to Petes Hamburgers in Praire du Chein. Cross the bridge again and ride down to Pikes Peak State Park. Follow the river for some beautiful views of the bluffs and the river. Humming bird season is well worth the trip to the park.

Extend this route to the southeast of Waukon to include good condition roads through Yellow River State Forest ... Start Elon Road east out of Waukon, right at the T intersection of Lansing-Harpers road, then back north to Lansing on the more eastern route. Lycurgus Road can shorten trip again. Many of these roads are new in the last 1-2 years. My "motorcycle" is a 2008 Miata.

Two thirds are SPECTACULAR. We started in Lansing and went west and around back to Lansing. Leaving Lansing is great and then it gets a little ordinary towards Waukon, and then north to Iowa River Rd. But then once you turn onto Iowa River road and then all the way back to Lansing is incredible. Some of the best riding I've ever done. And I've done a lot.
