Any time I go to Starved Rock, I always take 34 (Ogden) to 71 straight to the park, whether in the car or on the bike. I am one for local highways over the interstates. It's a relaxing ride. Great road to clear your head. Plenty of scenery in the form of farms. Not very twisty and slightly hilly the farther South you go. You'll get plenty of motorcycle waves when traveling this road as a lot of motorcyclists use it. Some days there will be more traffic than others, but never congested. Plenty of places to stop for gas with stations not being more than a dozen miles apart. Stop at the downed airplane monument. It's always worth a photo. As soon as I submit this, I'm going to jump on the bike and ride it again.

Great open road down to Starved Rock and great twisties on 71 closer to the park. Careful on the turns if you're new or they'll bite you in the ass

Nice Run. Hilly, with lots of turns close to the park. Saw some kid lay his racing bike down on one of the turns, and take out a mailbox. He was ok (thankfully)... so just a reminder, take it slow on those turns! Lots of construction and congestion in Oswego (start of the trip), might be better to avoid 34/71 interchange... maybe come north down Orchard. But after Oswego, it's a beautiful ride! Enjoy!

This is the northeast Illinois riders dream route! Paved two lane from Oswego to Starved Rock, little to no traffic- never congestion, smooth pavement, a mere handful of lights, everything the city and suburbs don't offer. If your bike is your baby and riding her is your r&r- cruise this route. Awesome little stops along the way, REALLY decent eats (try grumpee's pork chop or chili dog), just watch for wildlife (lots of deer, coyote, wolves, turkeys, raccoons, opossums, squirrels...standard Illinois target practice). Ride free and stay safe! See you in the road!!!

Really nice ride. Gorgeous scenery and not a lot of traffic. Awesome for a day trip! Make sure to visit Stonehead Leather in Utica after the Park. Awesome people and great prices!

It was a great alternative to the highway. Some really nice sweeping bends and some good space to ride.

From Yorkville south to Ottowa, there are a string of back roads that parallel the Fox river on the north side, that are worth poking around upon.

This was a very enjoyable ride. Starting in Oswego, it's country farm roads. Once you get near Ottawa, the river views are really nice. The roads get curvy as you enter Starved Rock.
Spend some time at Starved Rock before returning. Perfect summer ride.

Well Illinois doesn't have a lot to offer for Rating 5 roads, this one is pretty good for a short stretch at Starved Rock. A ton of traffic on weekends which can slow you to a crawl. Come out in Utica and there are some great food spots.

This is my first motorcycle ride, I would always remember this trip. The road was perfect with lots of farms on either sides of the road. Perfect destination.

One of my favorite rides in Illinois! Starved Rock is cool but this ride is very little stop and go, and my favorite section is the small town of Norway. They have a viking museum built by the original settlers; and Francescas pizza is an amazing little place of 6 tables operated by the family.
Need more reason to go? Covey's coy indoor water park for the kids down the road and family hiking down the other way at starved rock.
I must have done this ride once a month because it gets you out of the traffic so you can twist the throttle and is forested.

Good ride, though I prefer to jump on Rt 6 in Seneca and ride that to 71. You also don't have to stop past Starved Rock state park. Keep going West into LaSalle-Peru and then take Rt 6 to Rt 29 South. It follows the river and stays gorgeous.

Ride is great as you get close to Starved Rock State Park but otherwise on average. There are a few twists near the park that are somewhat of a surprise after an hour of straight farm roads
If I am going to Starved Rock from the burbs, I like Route 6 through Morris, Marseilles and Ottawa. Much nicer

Really nice ride through some quaint farm towns. This is a pretty straight route. Not a lot of twisties. There are some nice vistas of rollings hills and valleys as you ride just south of Yorkville. There's a cool go-kart race track in Norway. Of course, if you're heading to Ottawa you have to ride through Starved Rock State Park. It's one of the best (but very short) rides you'll find in NE Illinois.

Loved the ride. Road is well paved. Unfortunately there were a lot of cars that felt they needed to drive in the center. Very few guardrails.
