Nice half day ride with the occasional stop for a bite in one of the local cafes along the way and antique shops sprinkled about. Local southern hospitality is the norm. Small town country folks saying "howdy" and throwing up a hand to make you feel welcome or to aid in directions. I've ridden this road several times, not that its such a overwhelming special road, but its close to the house and it allows me to escape the wrongs and pressures in my life, if only for a few hours. Good ride to get lost for a few hours.

I liked this ride. Hopped on at Covington, Ga. It was all the profile said it would be except that the Whistle Stop Cafe closes at 4:00 on Saturday so I couldn't eat dinner at 5p and make the turn around. I was disappointed. But I did find a nice Italian Restaurant in Jackson, Ga (14 miles west).

Great little ride! I live in Winder, so I picked it up in my backyard and took my wife for a nice trip and lunch. Good news, the intersection of 23 and 83 is now a 4-way stop! Eat Fried Green Tomatoes in the town that the movie by the same name was filmed!

We did this route on Saturday, September 10. In Dawsonville their was some stop and go traffic in the city. After we passed of Hwy 78 things cleared up and was smooth sailing till we hit Monticello. There was construction which we couldn't hit 83. Luckily a local showed us the way to get back on route. We ended up going down Fellowship East then made a left the 1st street and that took us to the dead end and we made a right back onto 83. After that it was just relaxing. I do suggest that you fill up your tanks in Winder and you should be good to go till you hit Juliette. As the route states you can have lunch at the Whistle Stop Cafe or you can go and hit 75 to exit 203 or 204 and turn left off of the expressway and then make the first right and go pass Denny's to Buckner's Restaurant. If you go there on Saturday or Sunday please be aware that they don't open till 11am for lunch and it's a buffet style. the price is $14.95 cash or check.

I've not taken that specific route though I have ridden 53 and 11. We met in Jackson and rode down 23 to Juliette and had lunch at the Whistle Stop. Wonderful food and definitely a great ride. We also stopped by Indian Springs for pictures.

Took this trip 7-25-15.. I went up I-85 and got off in Braselton exit 129 (Hwy 53)..Trip was great after once I got out of downtown Braselton. In the City of Monroe ran into about 20 cops in about a mile stretch of roads. The GPS on my Limited wasn't the best once I got down in Juliette but in got me there. There was no construction or closed roads to worry on this trip. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Nice easy ride with lots of country scenery. Lots of gas stations and little stores to stop at on the northern half of the route, a little more sparse on the southern half.
