We just made this ride as part of a 3626 mile 15 day excursion from the Midwest to Key West and back through the Smoky Mountains. This portion of the ride (Naples to Key West) is where I considered our vacation to truly begin. I loved Naples and then Highway 41 from Naples over to the edge of Miami was a great ride through the heart of the Everglades. 41 was a route I had always wanted to try and its worth it. The road conditions are above average and the traffic minimal. It's only 93.2 miles from Naples to the Turnpike in Miami so as long as you gas up in Naples you're good to go. We stopped and did an airboat/swamp tour that was outstanding. Once we got to Miami and the Turnpike we headed south to the Keys all of which was very familiar as we've made the trip in cars multiple times. Of course like others have suggested we made a must stop at Alabama Jacks just as we have many many times before. Never miss it. After waiting out a thunderstorm there we headed on down to Marathon where we had a house rented for the week. Riding on to Key West the following day was another life long dream on the bikes. Man oh man how I love the Florida Keys. Great ride from beginning to end.

As a local of South Florida, i have done this route hundreds of times with a few variations. I just love the tranquil seaside ride, going over the bridges with water all around you and the smells from the ocean and the surroundings. Sometimes i will go all the way down to key west but i do try to avoid it. If you have never been there, go once, take a picture at the "Southern most point" and get out. Otherwise go as far as Islamorada or a couple hours more, down to Marathon key to ride the 7 Mile Bridge, which i always enjoy (when i go that far). If you like to camp, once you pass the 7 mile bridge there is a campground in Big Pine Key which i have stayed in a few weekends. It will be a 1/3 of the price of a hotel in key west, and a lot more fun IMO. Just please,
WATCH OUT FOR THE DEER!!!
If you make it down that far, visit a place called "NO NAME PUB" for a really good burger and a very unique experience. You'll see!!!
I almost never turn down a ride to the keys, so any one going down and wants some company, shoot me a message F4iGuy1@Gmail.com

Going west on hwy 41 is better because you will see the gators in the creek on the north side of the road. Lots of places to stop and view nature, stop at the Oasis visitor center. STOP AT THE IRON RHINO SALOON just south of Naples before you start the nature ride on hwy 41. Ask for a "little beer", local special. Everglades Safari Park is the best spot for airboat rides, plus you get an educational alligator show, plus a zoo full of alligators. FYI, the restaurant on site is worthless.

I strongly suggest avoiding Alabama Jack's on weekends-too many drunk riders. If you find yourself near there, stay away from the 'group' riders as they're 'packed together' in hopes of not being stopped, and have had more than their share of accidents.

This is my favorite road in the US..so far. I ride from Atlanta to Key West every year. I pickup the Overseas Highway in Homested. To avoid the heat, I take the trip in December. To avoide the traffic, I ride out to Key West during the week. Make sure to stop at some of the roadside restaurants along the way. They add to the charm of the ride. If you let the locals help you get into the ZEN of the keys and find yourself still out there Sunday morning, no worries. Grab a Waffle House breakfast and head North at 7 or 8am. Trust me, you will have an empty road all the way to the REAL world.

I love this route, it was my 1st solo ride in 2002. I have made this trip several times since. I could do the 7 mile bridge all day. The views are great, kick back and enjoy. Note the Keys do not like loud pipes so ride quiet.

Took this route 01/08/2011 and the same route back 10/09/2011. Ride through the everglade area was great. Panther crossing area, never did see any Panthers. Large alligators in the canals. Highway 1 to Key West was busy with weekender. Took 8 hours one way from Naples to Key West. The 7 mile bridge is a big attractions to inlanders. Key West is a great town, lots to do in the downtown area. Would do again. Trailers from Atlanta to Naples. No helmet laws. You are really "in the wind" without a helmet. Lot of straight sections and 45 mph.

If you like seafood check out the City Seafood Cafe in Everglades City or Joni's Crab Shack on 41 in Chokoloskee. If you're near Marco Island on a Sunday during "the season" check out Stan's on Goodland. They have a big party on Sundays and lots of bikes there.

Rode Englewood to Key West solo March 2011. Stayed overnite at Sea Dell in Marathon. Clean, quiet, with polite help and a nice little pool. When I got to Key West and saw the traffic, I touched my foot on the ground and turned around and headed back north. Too much traffic! Kinda cool looking at the 7 mile bridge I traveled 40 years ago as I rolled down the new one. I came down I-75 to SR29 south to 41 to avoid the Naples traffic. I saw a lot of bikers. Total trip over 700 miles. My first trip on new Harley that has 1,000 miles. 1,00 mile checkup at Naples HD while on the way. Great dealership!

After you hit US1 heading down, after you get to the end of 'civilization', take Card Sound Road. Stop at Alabama Jacks on the right for some great conch fritters and a cold beverage. Then head south through the toll plaza. This road will end at US 1. You can head south from there to Key West.

I rode this route in the other direction (KW to Naples) in April, '09. Yes, the scenery and amenities are great but I can't rank roads this flat/straight and crowded very highly as motorcycle roads, regardless of their physical condition. The traffic was horrendous and the crush of people eventually sent me packing - beautiful and unique region, just the same.

Have ridden several times. Ride this for the scenery. Be sure to take Tamiami Trail US-41 through the Everglades. Find the Smallest Post Office in Ochopee. Take a short detour to Chokoloskee for Smallwood Store. Lots of places to stop throughout the Keys.

Honda Fury. Actually from Ft. Myers. Make sure you take US 41 and not 75 like the map shows but also take Card Sound Road in Homestead to Key Largo and not US 1. Be sure to stop at Alabama Jacks on that road.

Great for what it is, but it is Florida, so very flat and sometimes boring.

A nice ride through the Everglades. Don't forget to take a side trip to Everglades City for an air boat ride through the mangroves. Trip through the Keys was good with a lot of beautiful ocean. A lot of traffic during mid-May 2021. Probably because people have been cooped up for so long. If you plan on eating at the pier in Key West, get there early of be prepared for a long wait for a table. Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, the Truman Complex and winter white house and The Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West are must sees.

Solid. The entire route is pretty straight. This one is more about where you are going than how you are getting there.

A great scenic ride both ways with plenty of places to eat and stop for gas in the Keys. Once you are on Big Pine Key, ride the speed limit as the Key Deer are protected. The deputies and highway patrol are strict everywhere else too, so keep the speed down. On US 41 amenities get scarce so fuel up before riding that part. There is fuel on the reservation, but prices could be higher or stations not open at times. A good stop is Clyde Butcher's art shop on 41. His photos are phenomenal and are like Ansel Adams in black and white. It is not a one day back and forth if you want to enjoy time of the bike..

As a resident of Florida, I look for scenic, challenging, and long rides that provide the overall experience. Although these roads provide a unique view of Florida to tourist that have never visited the everglades or seen alligators etc, for me as resident is to see the beauty of the waters in the keys. I truly enjoyed the ride across the 7-mile bridge.

Motorcycle riding for 50 years. Native Floridian. Remember this is Florida. Don't start comment with, Straight road or no curves. The rise to Key West on US 1 is one of the prettiest rides in the USA. Yes I have to all 50 states. Beartooth..., Hwy 1 in Ca., Dragon in Tenn., Kancamagus in New Hampshire. …..Riding over the bridges and seeing the beautiful Atlantic ocean is something to put on your bucket list. While in Key West make sure to stay for the sunset at Mallory Square. The Conch Republic Seafood supply will be some of the finest seafood you'll eat. One night is long enough unless you're into a little snorkeling. The boat ride to the Tortugas, (Largest US fort) turned into prison for a while. Dr. Mudd was imprisoned here. Beautiful ride to and from. Whether you go just for the M/C ride or a few extras. It will be one of your best trips.
