Decent ride. Went a little quicker than anticipated but stopped a couple times to admire the scenery. Definitely does not feel like FL but more like North GA. Would ride again if in the area.

What a beautiful ride. The view of Lake Apopka is amazing. Worth the trip for anyone that loves to see the beauty of God's creation.Highly recommended.

Awsome ride. Do watch for the bicylist. They are out there in full force. The water cooler is a popular stop for these riders.

The name itself is nostalgic -- The Sugarloaf Mountain Ride!! It truly seems an interesting ride and if you are the country side and going along with nature, this seems to be it!! It seems to be a ride full of hilly curves and unexpected twists which look quite interesting though there seem to have quite a few bicyclists whom you can bump into if you aren't careful!! Would love to do this one some time!! ankle support

I rode this route earlier this year and have already made plans to redo it. We were lucky in that it was a beautiful day, we could enjoy near and far scenery plus just a couple bicyclists. Our route from home, 140 miles took us over many side roads which made for a great Saturday ride.

Breathtaking Vistas any time of year. Be careful to share the road with numerous bicyclists especially on the weekends. Remember to bring your camera. Early morning ride best during hot summer months.

Watch out for bicyclists, this area is also prime bicycling country, and roads. Weekends will be full of cyclists enjoying the read as well.

We started in Winter Park and rode to the start point in Apopka. The website directions were excellent. Had a wonderful lunch at Mary's Tavern (just about the only restaurant on the ride). The scenery in Lake County was the best I've seen in Florida, and we live here.

Nice change of pace for Florida riders! The view is pretty awesome but once you've crested the top and seen the view it's pretty much the highlight and end of the trip.

Rode the route on our Spyder. It was a nice ride with some rolling hills which is rare for Florida. Pretty orange groves and pastures with horses, farmland make up a few of the landscapes you’ll pass thru. Also there’s Green Mountain observation deck and trail that’s a nice stop off.

Rode this route in January of 2021. I modified it a little to go through Mount Dora. That was about the best part of the ride unfortunately. I imagine these roads have changed quite a bit in the 14 years since it was posted here. There is a ton of construction and the traffic is pretty heavy. I would go there again just to hang out in Mt Dora for a while, but that's about it. I trailered my bike down from NC to ride in some warm weather for a while. These FL roads are no comparison to NC though; boring and crowded.

Easily accessible from greater Orlando area. Decently curvy in the area near the "mountain" itself. You won't find any true "twisty mt. roads" for sport riders to gobble up in Florida, but this can be a neat little ride for a mixed group of cruiser, standard, sport where everyone can ride at a casual pace. Not much space to pull off at the unmarked peak as it's a residential neighborhood with more houses being built, but a wide grassy shoulder abutting someone's property give you a narrow view from the highest point on the FL peninsula! Bookend this ride at the charming strip of shops/restaurants on Plant Street, Winter Garden for a chill afternoon.
