It is a pretty nice rode. I normally take it to smyrna, but not much farther. You need to watch out in the spring and summer for grass on the road. Also, the only cops I ever see are in the small towns with the 25mph limit, but dont be fooled, I've seen plenty of bikes pulled over. That said, the straights are BEAUTIFUL! You'll open the throttle and before you know it, you're in the triple digits. All and all, it's a good ride, but be safe and use good judgment.

Great road with some long straights that can let you get carried away a bit with your throttle hand. Do watch out for the humped up canal bridges - as you can catch air if you are not cognizant of your speed. Also watch for water on the road at high tide in some of these same locations.

Some nice attractions along this route include woodland beach - for some real sand and few people.

Also, Bombay Hook has some gravel loop roads that are excellent for bird watching and a favorite with my spouse. We saw a bald eagle there last week.

The Delaware bay is quite beautiful, and I was just down there last week, and the fall foliage seems late, but is quite nice. Enjoy.

Lived in DE for 20 years and took this trip hundreds of times. Ice cream at Coleman's Christmas tree farm, crabs at Sambos and all the time seeing US air force jets buzz the skies out of Dover. Love this road. Check out the old light house on at the stop sign in Middletown.

I love this road. I have been taking this route to the shore since I was a kid. It is starting to get built up a bit between Port Penn and Rt 299. The Augustine Inn is closed, but there are good places to eat in Delaware City, plus the launch to Pea Patch Island (a Civil War Prison Island). Leipsic is a speed trap so be careful going over the bridge if your heading south as speed limit drops to 25 immediately. I love the combination of straights and twisties. State Lands and Preserves are all along this road.

Nice local ride. Watch some of the potholes near bridges. At the end you can visit Mikes Harley Davidson in New Castle.

It is a nice road to take because there are so few roads to take without the traffic. Del City has a few good restaurants.

one of my favorites,I ride it daily, its not exactly the P.C.H. but its still a really nice ride, watch out for water on the road when theres been alot of rain and the tides in, if traffics turning around and not going through the water, follow them, theyre most likely taking the dry route!Be safe all!

Great ride on RT 9. A little of everything from beginning to end for any level of driver. Mostly enjoyed because there was little traffic for most of the ride. Only negative was the tide was up and I had to run the bike through water that had crossed over the road. Not sure what was in the water but it was heck to clean the rims later because of a residue that was difficult to remove. Overall, highly recommended.

Rode Route 9 Saturday August 9 with 4 other guys. It is a great road for bikes!! Long stretches with inviting curves, beautiful views of the water, farmland, forests, and some nice switch backs thrown in there. You can't miss with this road.........

Route 9 is a grat ride. Try to ride the northern part of RT 9 on low tide. If the tides are high and the wind is blowing the water will flood over parts of the road at low bridge crossings.

Nice 2 lane cruise through the Delaware low country, keeps you off Rt. 1 for 60 miles or so, nice views of the marsh, Delaware Bay, South end is behind Dover A.F.B. so might see some mighty C5's in air, always a treat.
