2017. Having ridden Estes Park thru Big Thopson Canyon the night before, a busy Friday, and wanting to get down to Mount Evans I entered via Hwy 7 and Lyons. The road never stops curving, rising, and dropping, easy to ride at a good pace though. Views are great in the high country, traffic not bad for a Saturday. Well worth the ride.

This ride was a 9+ at least! Words do not do this ride justice. You have to ride it to believe it. I met nice peolpe along the way and the sights were spectacular. All of the meadows were in bloom with wild flowers, blue skies and puffy clouds. Very nice variety of twisties mixed with long sweeping and tight quick corners.

Bring a camera and ride this route into Rocky Mountain National Park and you will see large herds of Elk come down into the park, this occurs in August and September so bring warm clothes as the temp can drop quickly. (Best motorcycle roads in N. America)

This is an amazing ride right from the start! Breathtaking views and an amazing road! Stopped in Nederland for lunch. Ended up trapped by an afternoon storm, good food but not real friendly. Got the hint that hippies don't like bikers. Probably still over the Hells Angels kicking their ass out in Cali in the 60's!

I did this ride on 08/16/10. I started of in Golden and road it all the way to Estes Park. IT WAS AMAZING. If you are thinking about doing this ride but think it is to long, it's not. Do it, as it will be a life time memory.

The peak to peak was paved during the Summer of 2010. The down side is that patrols by Gilpin county sheriffs are way up. And now that it is paved it is hard to ride even close to the legal limits. BTW Gilpin patrols south of Nederland. Also, the weekends are no time to ride in the Rockies. Come with us in 2011 and ride all week long.

This is our favorite 2-3 hour ride. We usually come up through Rt. 6 and take the Central City Parkway to get on 119. There are some great restaurants in Estes Park for lunch before returning. Our favorite is Big Hirn on the western edge of town. Good food and plenty of it.

I agree totally with Paul and his friends......the view is "Amazing" and
the road is like a "Mini-Gap" (Tail of the Dragon) in Tennessee! Plenty "S" curves with a few 180's thrown in for good measure. If you own a sportbike your in "Motorcycle Heaven"...do yourself a favor and
get up there if you can!!!

loved the ride up thru the canyon next to the stream, took this ride as part of vacation and really enjoyed it, got to Estes Park and continued over the mountains to Granby, been a long time since I was on top of a mountain and riding over on bike was superb. Had to keep stopping to take pictures along the whole route. I rode this part and continued down the back side of the mountain, took the whole day to complete, but wasn't in any rush, just enjoying nature.

Did this ride in September '09. The fall colors are SPECTACULAR. Bring warm gear as it can get pretty chilly during stretches. Only drawback was the traffic can get a bit dicey at times( it was a Saturday), so try to not get distracted by the scenery. You owe it to yourself to pull off the road and take in the views for awhile.

I love this road!! They recently paved about 30% of peak to peak highway to help improve the road quality. I reccomend not going on Sunday's due to heavy traffic

Living in Colorado, I've done this ride many times. It is an excellent, scenic route with abundant wildlife. So be careful and mindful. There is a small stretch of road if traveling north, just before Estes Park. Stop, pull over and soak in the scenery of Longs Peak!! It's amazing.

Did this ride 4 times this summer(2019) with different sets of friends and family each time. Perfect ride every time. Just beautiful mountains and great roads to ride and experience. The last time the aspen leaves were changing. Family and friends came all the way out from California just to do this particular ride. They want to move here now. LOL

As I live in Boulder I ride this road many times per year. While fun and nice scenery, compared to other rides in Colorado this is an average route - albeit the standard is pretty high. Try to avoid traffic typical on weekends.

This is some great riding. Usually not many tourists, just locals. Highway 7 over Twin Sisters peak, to Allenspark. Then 72 to Ward, Nederland and then 179 on to Blackhawk. Great run. don't go all the way into Blackhawk, unless you want to gamble. Turn around and take Gap road east back down to pickup 72 near Coal Creek Canyon. Then turn left and take 72 back up top. Then take 119 east to Wheelman (don't go into Boulder unless you want to), and then take 122 back west through Sugarloaf back to Nederland. Go north on 72 to Ward and turn right on Lefthand Canyon Rd. Take it down until you come to James Canyon road. Turn left and take it through Jamestown back up over Bald Mntn to Highway 72 again. From there, your choice. Go back north to Estes Park, or south to Blackhawk. Add any of the above at any segment of your Peak to Peak run to add plenty of joy and grins. Those canyon roads follow rivers and they have been know to flood a time or two so be careful!

This is a great ride - you can get there up Golden Gate canyon, up Coal Creek canyon, up Boulder Canyon (thru the city), or up the South St. Vrain canyon thru Lyons, and each has its own features. Try for non-weekends if possible and watch for the crotch-rockets from behind! No offense intended. It's also an easy stop at Central City or Estes Park. Bring your camera!

While on a 2-week tour I happened upon this beautiful streatch of blacktop at the end of a very long day of riding that I thought was topped off by the Trail Ridge Road in the RMNP. Estes Park all the way down to Blackhawk... WOW! Even though it was getting late in the afternoon I nearly turned around and ran it all over again.

Majestic views on this fine highway. Cool, clear air with elevation over 8000 feet in Black Hawk and while it goes up and down along with its curves the elevation at the North end in Estes Park is over 7000 feet.

Nice smooth road with curves and hills. Nice scenery too. But I recommend going off road onto the Switzerland Trail or Gold Hill Rd to experience more of the terrain. You will need a bike with on/off Rd tires but it's a lot of fun

This was a good ride. We started in Estes Park (after being denied entrance to RMNP). Good views of Longs Peak and Mount Audubon. The canyon ride into Golden was fun.

Great views, plenty of things to keep your eyes entertained. The only downfall was the immense amount of traffic. I rode it on a Saturday which im sure is the busiest day, if you really want to enjoy this route better plan on a weekday.

Not the most technically challenging ride in Colorado which makes this a perfect day relaxing ride, I ride it ALL the time to just unwind. Usually traffic is average but not bad on the weekends. Stopping for lunch or a snack in Nederland is what I enjoy as long as it's not too busy. For a small town it can deadlocked in traffic.

Rode this many times while living in Boulder. There are many side canyon routes that connect to it from Golden north to Loveland. At the north end it passes through the east part of Rocky Mtn National Park. Beautiful scenic route!

4 for scenery and 3 for ride enjoyment. Lots of leafers but with reasonable speeds and some fun corners. Would not go out of my way for it but it gets you from the Black Canyon run to the Walden loop without having to go down the freeway.

The Peak to Peak highway is fantastic on its own, but I always have more fun blasting up and down the canyon runs that get you there from the plains.

Very beautiful road. Early fall especially when leaves are changing. I recommend going up highway 36 to Estes park start route then down through Boulder Canyon. Places to eat along the way serving great food. There are many canyon roads heading down to Boulder try. As other have said you HAVE to watch for sand in the spring.
