Without question one of the most beautiful roads in the country. The views are breathtaking, this is pristine High Sierra riding. I live in Fresno and take my bike to Yosemite at least 3 times a year, Tioga is my destination. There I camp and enjoy 3-4 days of riding the prettiest country in the world. Do not forget to get to the Eastern Sierras, Mono Lake, June Lake, Hwy 395, Bodie, and on and on. More to see here than you will ever have the time for, the roads are great the scenery.... well GREAT! If you happen to be a Dual Sport rider, you are in heaven, there are miles and miles of roads in and around Mono basin, again plan for more than a day and see as much as you can.

What can I say that MANY others haven't already said far better than I could too, BTW!

We took this as part of a 4 day trip on a "return course" back to Vegas and we were all surprised by the abject beauty of the roads (I have to include CA-140 into the park.)

Bring plenty of "film" (SD memory for the "youngin's") as you WILL use it all during the ride!!!

While not crowded traffic wise, I can only imagin how crowed it could be between the summer holidays.

Short answer here is: EVERYONE NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIDE AT SOME POINT IN THEIR MOTORCYCLING LIFE!!!

We spent the night on the east slope of the park in Mammoth Lakes and had a wonderful time there (highly recommend it)

We WILL be back and will take a MUCH longer time to see but a small part of paridise!

I have made 3 trips from Illinois to the west coast. Rode to the coast highway in Washington state and then south through Oregon and into California. On each trip I made it a point to go to Yosemite NP. Simply put, this park is a must see. Take my word, it does not get any better than this. If you are in the area of park, go, you will not be sorry. The views are breathtaking, great roads for riding, be sure to watch out for the other tourists and the wildlife.

Great Ride. A couple of us started in the bay area and made our way to 120 within a few hours. The line getting into the park area was long but $10 later were riding through Tioga Pass down towards Mono Lake and down to the June Lake area. Plenty of places to pull over and take pictures. It's much better on a bike because parking isn't an issue. Plan your gas and eating spots and you'll have a great time.

Great ride, Hotel Jeffrey is surely a fun place, thanks to Peter and CherylAnn. Another great place to stay in the same area is the Hotel Charlotte in Groveland, with the Iron Door Saloon right across the street for your dancing needs. You can have fun right there at the hotel too, they have a full bar, and the Cafe Charlotte menu is great.

Did this ride from Lee Vining (east to west) today and it was spectacular. When I got home and my wife had already seen the pictures on instragram she insisted we go back next weekend with her on the back. I happily have agreed with her demands.

The elevation changes are many as you hover between 7000-9000 feet nearly reaching 10k at the highest point (9945 ft). The traffic was polite today, and sightseeers often pulled over at convenient times to let me pass and gave a gentle wave. The scenery is, well, it's Yellowstone.

If you don't already own a motorcycle, you should get one to do this ride.

I was staying down in Mammoth Lakes and intended on getting back to my home near Sacramento by taking Carson Pass. But, I ran into a fire that had Hwy 395 closed at Lee Vining and took Hwy 120 over Tioga Pass instead. Coming up 120, the peaks are so close to you and the elevation changes are so dramatic between you and the mountaintops hovering above that it feels like you are riding in an enclosure. One big, beautiful enclosure with a blue lid.

We went in July and still froze our butt off because we didn't plan for it to be raining and snow on top. I know this is a great road but I was too busy trying to not die to enjoy it much. Will have to go back someday and try it again.

Some say late Fall is the time for this route but I disagree. This road is superb any time of year. It's one of Cali's best!

Great ride with tremendous scenery. A little smoky due to the CA fires but did detract from the beauty. Road was in great shape with plenty of curves.

An early start from Mammoth Lakes since we had a lot of ground to cover to get to Folsom for the night. North on US 395 to SR 120 west over the Tioga Pass; a drive thru Yosemite Valley and back out to SR 120 all the way down to Chinese Camp where we picked up SR 49 all the way up north to SR 16 split and headed over to Folsom for the night. Late lunched Renegade Winery in Mokelumne Hill, there was a band out on the patio and some great home-grown wine that hit the spot. So many places to stop and enjoy, but we were on such a compressed schedule we missed out on so many stop possibilities. The views over Tioga Pass are simply amazing, I could do that ride every day and never tire of it. Certainly, you would try and hit it during a weekday and off-peak season as it does attract quite a crowd. There’s also a very nice section of twisty’s starting at Priest dropping you down to the valley floor and SR 49 that was very well paved and not too crowded. Next time we’ll allow more time.

This is a spectacular route. Introduces you to the heart of the Sierra Nevada. You are well advised to ride it during off peak or weekday times, since the tourist and RV traffic can be absolutely maddening!

Beautiful scenic route! Take time to enjoy it and you will probably see wildlife grazing around the corners. Fuel up often. If you happen to be riding east bound and run low on fuel, there is a great place for fuel and pie north once you hit the main highway!

Stunning views of Yosemite and just a cool CRIPS breeze throughout the ride. We rode this one in the middle of the summer and it was still amazingly cool up in the evelvation. Now going into Yosemite was a different story!

Amazing road. I'd recommend traversing the 108 & coming into the East entrance of Yosemite. Also, 120 heading East to Benton Hot Springs is a another nice ride.

Simply stunning. All the Sierra pass roads in Calif. are fantastic and this one may be the best.
