Rode this as part of a 9 day vacation run from Orange County up the coast then back through the inland wine country thru Carmel, Paso Robles and Solvang this was in the top 3 so far for me as to the beauty of of southern/central California Coastline...

Motorcycle Type : Touring

This is a great ride for just about any time of the year. Beautiful views the entire ride if you can look around when your steering a motorcycle. The weather is almost always rider friendly. My wife loves the coast so this is a ride we have done a few times.

All I can say is, WOW!!! One of the most beautiful rides I have been on. I would recommend taking your time to take in all the sights and sounds. I probably spent more time off my bike than on. There is a stretch pass the midpoint where we did not see a gas pump for a while.

I did this ride along with the 'Highway 1 - San Mateo Coast' ride. We started on Friday after work (from Dubbelju Motorcycle Rental) in downtown SF, rode down to Marina, CA (stopped at Gherkins for dinner) and crashed at the Motel 6. It has been recently renovated, and not a bad place to stop.

Had a beer at English Ales in Marina -- nice little local spot.
Breakfast at Coffee Mia was great!

Then on down to this part of the trip. What an absolutely gorgeous ride!
Big Sur River Inn is a nice spot to eat and stretch your legs.
