Ridden the route may times! Watch out for gravel on the road if you ride after a rainstorm! Alternative route out of Mountain View is to head towards Mountain Home and turn right (north) on Route 9 up to Melbourne. It's another route with LOTS of twists and turns - open vistas not as outstanding as Push Mtn Road, but also lots less traffic! Be careful your first time out on Push Mtn - every year seems someone overrides his capabilities and goes off the side of the mountain. Don't let it be you.....

Came upon this road while cruising this websit... only an hour from Hardy, so I figured, why not? First of all, it is an incedibly b-e-a-utiful Ozark mountain road! If you're just passing through the state, this is one road you won't want to miss to get your back road fix! Now, I must confess, I was a bit disappointed at the end of my ride. Maybe I have just matured as a rider (or maybe I'm just a NUT!), but after reading some reviews on Push Mountain, I was expecting a much more technical road than what I found... and I am definitely NOT a hardcore knee-dragger. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of great curves and switchbacks to keep you on your toes, but nothing intermediate riders couldn't handle. What I did like, though, was the sporadic "straight line" stretches which allow the perfect opportunity for a quick WOT burst prior to entering corners, if that's your thing ;) Hardly any traffic... I think I saw 3 cars and 1 bike throughout the entire road, but- BEWARE OF CUTE, FUZZY ANIMALS! I almost squished 3 fluffy bunnies... every one hopped out right at the apex of sharp turns. Also, plenty of deer! I saw between 10-12, but I did start my run at about 1830, so they were just starting to move around for the evening. The road condition was good-fair. There was several spots (bumps, dips, uneven asphalt patches) where, if you're making a high-speed run and not paying close attention, you may scare your front tire into a tank slapper. Just be on the lookout and adjust/ prepare accordingly and you'll be fine.

Overall, it's a beautiful road, lots of fun, and I'll definitely ride it again. As with ANY ride, respect the road, know your limits, ride SMART and stay safe!

Push Mountain Rd (Ark Hwy 341) is one if the best in that area. I grew up in Ark and this one is great. I ride it everytime I am in that area. Now for another great one ride Ark Hwy 123 from Hwy 65 all way to the bottom. This is know as the Ark Dragon. Another of the good ones. Another is Ark Hwy 16 between Ark Hwy 27 and Ark hwy 7. This stretch is known as the Copperhead. Enjoy I always do.

Better ride than Tail of the Dragon, NC! Higher speed though so try to be aware of the deer. Lightly traveled by cars, trucks and RVs....this is what I liked about it. The pavment is very sticky in warm weather. FUN FUN FUN!

Great run. When it first started out off of HWY 5 going back towards HWY 14, I thought what was all the fuss about. However, when I got to the end of the road, I thought this was awesome. I even nearly ran over a bobcat. Will definately ride it again.

I agree the directions are confusing but determined to find it, we made it. Was an awsome ride. Very little traffic even on Labor Day Weekend Can't wait to take it on again. Will make it a point to take this ride in the fall.

Push Mtn Rd is a great ride, the loop mentioned above actually does not include this great ride! Watch out for rd surface irregularities, slow traffic and deer. Gas at Mtn Home or Norfork/Salesville on Hwy 5. Push Mtn Road (AR state hwy 341) is know locally as the serpant as it snakes through the beautiful Ozark National Forest. Highly recommend this ride!

I rode down from Kansas and did this one in June of 09 and boy am I glad I did! It's the Deal's Gap or Dragon of the midwest. For those of us in the midwest who aren't near Deal's Gap this is where we get our twisty fix for the year. It doesn't much to do in terms of when you get off the bike so I gave it a 9 but it's an 11 in the road fun category!!!

The most fun you can have on two wheels. It is out in the middle of nowhere. If you plan a ride through the Ozarks, be sure and include this stretch of fun.

A must ride if you are in the area. Very little traffic, even on a Saturday. Ties in with several other awesome roads to make a very fun and challenging ride.

When I wrote this review several years ago I forgot to mention on thing. Be careful when approaching the 2 overlooks on this road. There are two places cars can pull over and admire the views. I've been pushing hard on the curves and had to slow down due to tourists near the road surface. The more I ride this road the more I respect the difficulty of the turns. Take this road at speed and hang on. Ride this one and Push Mountain and you have had one good day's riding.

July 2010. Fantastic ride. Aside from the first few miles on the north end where there was some traffic and patched asphalt, this was an incredibly fun, roller-coaster 18 miles of pavement. A few hairpins and short, steep climbs, but otherwise the sweeps were just right for carrying speed and scraping floorboards. Nice spot on the south end where you can safely park on the shoulder to catch your breath. I nearly fell over getting off the bike I was laughing so much at how fun it was. BE PREPARED FOR DEER. I missed one that had run beside me then darted across the front of the bike. Insanely fun otherwise.

That looks like one heck of route to take. One of the things I absolutely love about cross country riding is looking at everything around me. I mean, not to sound sappy or anything, but the summer scenery is positively gorgeous. I'm sure the winter is great too, but I don't ride in the winter time. Too much snow. Yuck. LOL. I DO happen to drive my Ford Focus in the winter, but that ain't no fun. :P Rebecca "On the Road again..." Indianapolis Cars

As far as road quality, parts of this road have really gone downhill. Thought you should know. Easy to come around a curve and suddenly hit asphalt patches/grooves.

Ridden it many times. I prefer riding it from south to north. Norfolk is a good place to stay on the river, but not much to eat there.

Much of NW Arkansas seems to be designed as a motorcycle amusement park and Push Mountain road ranks as the top ride. Smooth wide lanes with fast sweepers, changes in grade, and good sight lines through the turns encourage bold riding. Test your limits in the higher sections but avoid land speed record attempts in the valley straights where deer may wander out at any moment. On one northbound downhill section cut into the rock of the mountain you will often find damp spots to add a little pucker factor. Help, should you need it, is far away and the road is little travelled weekdays. Cell coverage is spotty ar best. Try not to need an ambulance.

I ALWAYS ride this road when I'm in the area. Easily one of the best roads in Arkansas for twisties and scenery. For you knee-draggers, at the southern end turn onto AR-14 east and go to Sylamore (10 miles). From there take AR-9 north to Melbourne (20 miles). This 55 miles of constant twisties is guaranteed to satisfy your thirst for curves.

I rode Push Mountain Road - Hwy 341 this past weekend. It is one of the BEST roads that I have ridden!! Not much traffic and a very well kept secret (not for long). When you ride look for Jack. He runs PushMountainPics.com and he is set up on the weekend taking pictures of everyone. You can then go to his website and purchase photos of yourself! Pretty cool to have a candid photo of yourself while tearing up the 'Serpent'!!

Push Mountain Road is a great road, I ride the road at least once a month or more thoughout the summer. It does have alot of great views and if you like riding curvy roads on your bike don't skip this one. The road is great for just cruising or knee down fun. Come check it out!!

Katie's Grocery (and gas) is 4 miles west of Hwy 341 on Hwy 14, in Big Flat. They have mechanics in Big Flat as well. Across from Katie's Grocery someone has opened a new restaurant. Hwy 341 aka "the snake" or "serpent" is well travelled by motorcyclists in "armor". Helicopters are often seen relocating riders to local hospitals. Jack is still there taking photos of riders that you can purchase.

I'm lucky that I live in Flippin, AR and get to ride Push Mountain several times a year. One of my favorite rides in the area is going to Mountain View. Do be careful though as it seems every year several riders end up crashing whether it be rider error or crossing paths with deer. I've had several close calls with deer so keep an eye out. Not much traffic and lots of nice curves. This road is really hard to beat.

We live in Mountain Home (14 miles from Push Mtn. Road), and have enjoyed Hwy 341 several times. We begin in Mountain Home on Hwy 5 South through Calico Rock and on to the junction of Hwy 14 at Sylamore (just North of Mountain View). Then we head West on Hwy 14 'til we meet 341 North back to Norfork - then Hwy 201 back to Mtn. Home. We've done Tail of the Dragon, Three Twisted Sisters, Pig Trail, and Ohio Triple Nickel, and Push Mtn. Road ranks toward the top of these. Doing Bear Tooth Pass this summer. Great road - look out for deer early morning and early evening!

The road is of excellent quality and lots of enjoyable corners but not the tight ones like in a Dragon. Very enjoyable ride through great scenery. Enough corners to keep you interested but not the ones that you touch the pegs.
