This route was the tail end of the Kirkwood, MO H.O.G Chapter's 2021 Iron Butt Ride. (NOTE: The chapter uses the term "iron butt" to denote a one way ride of 300 miles or more to an overnight destination, and is not associated with the Iron Butt Association or it's ride criteria.) Riding this at the end of a 300 mile ride and in temps in the mid 90s (and heat indexes in the low 100s) was a definite challenge, but the route is nicely wooded, and the twisties are fun without being too technical.

If you like twisties, this is your dream ride. As far as I'm concerned, this is Arkansas's tail of the dragon with twenty miles of constant curves. And those big black birds are called Buzzards (might as well be our state bird).

The road was fun with lots of twistys but it wasn't very wide with little if any shoulders. If it was wider I'd give it a 5 but have to give it a 4.

Had an AirBB in Mountain View so I rode this one on my way back from a full day ride - Melbourne to Mountain View. I was beat up from being in the saddle and day-hiking all day and this ride was a worthy finish

One amazing road. My Dad has told me about this road for years and I finally got to ride it. One of the reasons I'm moving back. :-D

What an awsome road. Melborne to Batesville is a nice ride too. Everytime I take a rider that has never been, they go back.

I got re-acquainted with this road this year. The first time I rode it on my new-to-me Suzuki Bandit several years ago, it really spooked me; there are many blind and technical curves that any new rider needs to be aware of before tackling this road. However, having gone back after a few more years under my belt, I have to say this is an incredible riding experience! Very technical, but also loads of fun with some beautiful views at two pull-outs. I would have rated it higher, but the road surface itself has some irregularities that knock it down a notch. Otherwise, one of the best in the state.

In my opinion, the top three "twisty' roads in the state are the Arkansas Dragon (AR-123), Push Mountain (AR-341) and the this one. The first time I came upon this road, I was at the end of a long ride and actually got tired of the curves and turned around halfway. This road never straightens out. Tie this one with AR-14 over to AR-341, and you'll have yourself a workout.

This is an amazing ride! We make 3-4 trips a season to the Mountain View area and this stretch of road is always a highlight for us.

Drove a gas tanker across this in the early 80s. Only rd ever made me sick (nauseus) and I liked curves.
Now I'm on a Yami Raider and Love this rd! Lots more traffic now tho, but not usually bad.

Highway 9 is an excellent road, and the last time I went that way, they resurfaced the road. The highway department's idea of "resurfacing" on that road was dumping some kind of loose chat stuff all over the road, and then let traffic pack it down over time. Not a good surface for bikes. This was at least a year ago so hopefully the surface has improved.

Great road in good condition. Had recently been resurfaced in several areas. Lots of deer hanging around so use caution.

Me and a buddy rode this route in May of 2012. It was the first twisty road I had ever rode and I have to say it's the most fun I've had on my motorcycle yet! As everyone else says, it's curvy as can be with nice high speed curves it's a joy to ride and the views are very nice as well.If your taking this route you should stop by Blanchard Springs and see the free sites there. With this route being less than 100 miles from me I am sure to ride it many times again.

Noticed in your "5 best roads for curves" article that CA Route-36 had 900 curves in 140 miles (roughly 6.5miles per curve). So for comparison I counted the curves on the Melbourne run last time I road it (160 in 20 miles - 8 miles per curve).
