We live in Tucson. Our V-Strom 1000 is one week old so this was our first ride other than bringing it home from Sierra Vista. Took an hour to get to Winkleman to start the loop around. Left the house at 8:00 and we were home by 1:00. Beautiful day and a beautiful trip. Many places to pull off and take in the scenary. We went on 5/5/12 and they're oiling the road from Kearny to Winkleman but it wasn't a problem since work stopped on the weekend.

What a great ride! We rode the route Nov 2011. Variety in geography, evev saw the fall leaves rainbow of colors on part of the route. Interesting to see the changes in the geography of the mountains due to volcano and seismic activity. Be sure and stop in Globe at the Cafe on the hill at the intersection of 60 and 188 for a cinnamon bun smothered in butter. what a treat!

This is a nice loop through some beautiful desert-mountain country. The section between Superior and Globe can get bogged down with weekend traffic but the two other legs more than compensate for it. The road surface is generally in good shape with lots of "S" curves, no switchbacks and a decent amount of few undulation sections on the Winkleman/Superior leg.

This road certainly has it's moments of long sweepers and canyons/mountains. If you start at Superior and drop down to Winkleman you will see the first 10 miles displaying steep carving sweepers on a road that I would rate a 4 in terms of asphalt quality. Watch out for enormous mining equipment that is being driven or hauled on the road as the steep downhill grades will force them to a crawl. The last 10 miles to Winkleman are pretty straight with nice views of the bluffs and meadows.
You can gas up at Winkleman and food is limited, but there is a little mexican place on the right side of road when you get to Winkleman.
From Winkleman up to Globe in my opinion is the best part of the run as there are more long sweeping roads that carve through the mountains and the views are pretty good. Traffic is very light most of the time.

1st time making this triangle and really disappointed I didn't do it years ago. Phenominal views, geology and winding roads in great condition tell you why you ride. The Copper Mine outside of Kearny is staggering in size...6 miles along the road and 1 mile deep in places rivals parts of Grand Canyon! Great vista point to see most of it on the east side. The only fuel stop on the way before Winkleman is "downtown" Kearny and has a surprising grocery store attached with a great deli that makes their own pastries! Eats are mainly in Globe/Miami with Jerry's a common breakfast stop. Miami has a surprising antigues street worth a stop if you are so inclined. Los Hermandos in Superior should be avoided at all costs! Cockroaches in the bathroom, marginal food, slow wait staff and an odd smell. Seems to not bother the "natives" though, go figure! This triangle has it all.. 10% grades, long and winding roads, stunning vistas and even a patch of European riding thru a tunnel and then a narrow bridge over Queen Creek.

This was a great ride. Bring plenty of water cause in the summertime it is a scorcher out there. I use a evaporative cooling jacket that helps dissipate the heat very well. This was just the desert scenery ride I needed.

First run on my first motorcycle, easy but not boring. From Globe to Superior was a little chilly, couldnt wait to get back into the valley! Marias in Hayden was an excellent lunch stop.

Great afternoon ride. I sometimes go west from Globe past Roosevelt Lake to Punkin Center, then home on Beeline Highway. Fantastic views of the lake from the highway, but few if any spots to stop. Longer trip, but that's what it's all about isn't it? Time in the saddle.

I try to do this ride at least once a year. It is a good one in late fall though early spring when it is still to cold to head up into the mountains but it is to nice in the valley to be stuck in town. If you normally ride in the desert in the summer it is a fine run as well if you get an early start and plan on spending some time relaxing along the way so as not to get back into town when it is to hot in the middle of the day. A good little side trip is over to Coolidge Dam, which is not to far out of Globe.

It was a nice ride with lots of elevation changes and beautiful scenery. Also get to see some of the mining areas. Stopped at Maria's in Winkelman for lunch which also was good. Make sure to get gas at Superior before heading south.

Nice ride and scenary. A little chili in January, wish I had heated grips up in Superior/Globe.

I have ridden this route a number of times over the past 20 years and each time I still enjoy it. I usually ride south out of Superior and start the run there. There has been some road work along the way in all sections and there is still a lot happening Globe to Superior as they improve that roadway. Still a nice run...

Had to ride this on our return from Show Low a few weeks back due to road closure on the 60 for maintenance. Was hot and not a welcome detour. Road surface was good and scenery was truly desert landscape.

Early ride on Sunday morning. Trip south on 177 was the most enjoyable portion of the ride as the scenery is beautiful and the turns fast and smooth. North on 77 towards Globe, though smooth is pretty typical.

Route 60 was delightful. In Globe you pass by the denuded landscape that the copper mines ruined. On the way south, we stopped in at Biosphere II. Traffic was light, although you go through some towns.

Route 60 is enjoyable and twisty. Globe passes the remains of the copper mine that's denuded the area. We stopped at Biosphere for a visit. Beautiful scenery.

This is a route that I consider a local route. I lived in Tucson and worked at the Miami Mine, and would take my bike to work to collect the better mileage rate. I generally did this route to and from Tucson. Even when I came back over the holidays with my FX, I made a point to go on that ride.

Did this ride on Thanksgiving 2017 for a quick morning trip out of Chandler. I have been to Superior/Globe a few times, 188 once etc and wanted to try out this loop.

Roads were in very good condition, temps were perfect and sun was glorious. I rode with the visor open on my helmet the entire time because it was so perfect.

Really enjoyed the stretch out of Winkleman to Globe due to absolutely no traffic in front or behind and the views were beautiful.

Great quick ride from Phoenix area.

Took this trip yesterday and yes Marias was good. I didnt care for the rice and beans though but the burro (burrito) I ate was delicious. As far as the trip goes it was a nice ride views were good. A few stretches of bumpy roads and a couple of railroad crossings that have big bumps otherwise roads were ok.
