Currently on FM 1061 a major road project is going on. Not sure of an end date on this project, at the time they're doing dirt work preparing passing lanes. I took it one day to Amarillo, won't take it again on the bike until it's done. Best option if you're coming from the east continue on I40 until you hit Vega, then head north on 385. Gas up in Vega otherwise 45 miles until you hit Hartley the next gas option on 385. Channing has gas but it's pay inside only. Hartley has pay at the pump and store is closed after 12 noon Saturday through Monday morning. Once road work is done I will be enjoying this route again. Gave it a 3 only due to the road construction. It's deserving of a 5 after paving is complete.
