Some of the oldest and most interesting rock formations in the region cast a long rust-colored shadow on one of the nicest roads in the Inland Empire of the Pacific Northwest. Flowery Trail is an E/W gateway to the undiscovered Pend Oreille County; a natural gem. A fabulous loop would find a rider headed west from Pend Oreille County over Flowery Trail, then north from Chewelah to Colville on 395; then East on Highway 20 back to Pend Oreille County. And then having enjoyed the second best road (Tiger Pass) in the region, you may just want to spend the rest of your life in the region. Pend Oreille County is known to wildlife biologists as "The Zoo" for the abundance and diversity of watchable wildlife and birdlife. Plus? Not a single traffic light in the entire county, and only about 12,500 residents.
