Written Directions

The starting point is in Council Bluffs, IA (just accross the river/border from Omaha, NE). Start on north Broadway and you'll find signs for highway 183 and take that north towards Crescent, IA. Take 183 through Crescent and on to Missouri Valley and continue for another 10 miles or so on to Magnolia.

Scenery

This road runs through some of the most serene & beautiful southwest Iowa farmland.

Drive Enjoyment

Most of this route is well maintained pavement, even though the original road was brick highway (Old Lincoln Highway). Lost of turnshills, and plenty of straight-away for winding your bike up. Great for road racers and cruisers. Very popular with the local bikers.

Tourism Opportunities

Starting north from Council Bluffs, there are several small town with excellent restaurants, barscafes. My favorite being Crescent, IA's Pink Poodle for their prime rib!

Rode this route as part of a group ride from Council Bluffs to Missouri Valley. It was a relaxing ride through one of the very few windy parts of Iowa. You've really got to be near a large river in this part of the country to get any kind of twisted roads. All in all it was an enjoyable ride given the part of the country that it's in.

Please explain this "Lincoln Highway." I always thought the Lincoln Highway was similar to I 80 (specifically HW 30 in Iowa). It is marked with Lincoln highway/Iowa byways signsl

Um. This route is in Western IA near the Nebraska border. A lot further than 30 minutes from WI.
