Written Directions

Start in Walhalla, SC and head north on route 28, cross the SC/GA border, stay on route 28, cross the GA/NC border, and head into Highlands, NC (then end point).

Scenery

Beautiful National Forest scenery. Mountains, Rivers and Waterfalls ... a great sampling of 3 states in a nice 30 mile run! Travels through the Sumter National Forest and later Nantahala National Forest.

Drive Enjoyment

Plenty of tight curves as well as some long sweepers, nice transitions. For the pavement, the majority of the road is in good shape. Once in the forest area you can twist the throttle and drag your knees.

Tourism Opportunities

Not a lot between Walhalla and Highlands, so, fill up before you leave Walhalla. No restaurants or other facilities for miles.

Rode this one south down to 107, then took 107 north, so not quite as mapped, but this is a road where the further north you are the more twisty and fun the road is. The Georgia part can be quite tight in some areas for a main road, but that didn't detract from the fun, just sprinkled a touch of danger on it. Solid road, no real complaints. Absolutely look it up, if you're in the area.

As the others have said. Rode it this week and it was amazing. Tonnes of triple curves, tree lined, little traffic.

I recently did this ride and it was outstanding. Way better than I thought it was going to be. Just watch those decreasing radius blind turns. I recommend that you ride at 6/10's your ability or less the first couple times you're on this road. I was riding at an aggressive but safe pace (so I thought) only to find that numerous times I had to lean it so far over that the footpegs were scraping to make the turn (sportbike). Had I been going any faster I would not have made the turn without going left of center and risking a head-on collision.
