Vermont Motorcycle Roads and Trips

Vermont (VT) is one of the best motorcycle riding states in all of the northeast United States. It has the building blocks of what most great motorcycle roads include - great scenery combined with access to unique & colloquial roadside amenities. Key scenic features of the state include the Green Mountains in the west and Lake Champlain in the northwest. The state also has a healthy collection of bed & breakfasts, wineries, antique shops and goes out of it's way to welcomes visitors with open arms.

Route 17 - MAD RIVER GLEN (Feb 07)

… trip highlights small towns of Southern Vermont this ride will take you through several quaint little villages and through a covered bridge … the Gray Ghost Inn is only 7.5 miles from this town so if people have had enough they can ride home to relax by the pool

… road starts in Fair Haven and runs all the way to West Rutland, it has some of the best scenery for mountains I've ever seen ... I will never forget all the rides there!

… amazing terrain through the midst of ski country ... many scenic lookouts and hiking opportunities … beware of small sections of road with steep inclines and switchback turns

Green Mountain Spine Waterbury/Killington Loop (Nov 05)

… a wonderful loop thorough the heart of Vermont … the beauty of this ride is the fact that you can go miles without seeing anyone or anything … when you're in Montpelier, look into the Capital building and have lunch in the cafeteria with a senator or representative

The scenery factor of each route is rated

Far above average scenery for that state. (Ex. mountain views, lakes, rivers, hills, or forests.)   Below average scenery for that state. (Ex. an area that simply is lacking in overall natural beauty.)

The road quality factor of each route is rated

Outstanding driving conditions.  Plenty of twists, turns & hills; well maintained roads with smooth pavement.   Straight roads over flat land or rough road conditions with
some potholes or driving
hazards such as gravel

A rating of what there is to do off the bike

Plenty of things to do when it's time to pull over.  (Ex. museums, restaurants, pull-outs, historical sites, entertainment etc.)    Little to nothing to do when it's time to pull over.  (Ex. lack of museums, restaurants, pull-outs, historical sites, entertainment etc.)
