Written Directions

Start at/near the intersection of US 67 and Arden Road and head west on Arden Rd. When you get to Farm to Market Road 228 take a right (go north) and wind through San Angelo State Park all the way up to the Old Sterling City Hwy where you want to take a left and head northwest for just a short ride to the rides end point when it hits US 87.

Scenery

The route runs along the side of San Angelo State Park so there is plenty of brush and trees along it. If during the dry season then you might have to deal with a good amount of bugs and dust.

Drive Enjoyment

This road had a couple of very nice sweeping curves and a couple of little hills. At the beginning of the route the road quality is excellent but then gets a little worse, but not too bad. The traffic isn't bad...vehicles know to get out of the way if you come up on them.

Tourism Opportunities

You will have a cell signal all along this route and plenty of vehicles running. Once in a blue moon you will see cops along the route, so there shouldn't be much to worry about. There is not a gas station along the route but there is one at the end.

Motorcycle Road Additional info

This route is a "there and back" ride. Once you hit the gas station on the north end of the route you can either head back the same way you came or do some more discovering or make a right hand turn on the freeway to head back to San Angelo. This route does run along a state park that has TONS of wildlife; from time to time they do come out to the road...so keep an eye out.

I ride this as part of my local San Angelo Route. Fun curves for a new rider. Too short to make it worth making a special trip for if you are out of town.
